Onesie Days

Monday, 30 September 2013

Now I love a onesie just as much as the next person and was very quick to jump on the bandwagon 3 years ago when I was living in uni halls. Our flat consisted of a reindeer, cow, zebra and a rabbit (as well as a monkey across the corridor) which, at the time, we didn't even question. Any time was appropriate for a onesie, no matter which character you chose to be. They're comfortable, warm, and so easy to chuck on...what's not to like?

Ok so wearing a onesie when having a comfy night in with friends is absolutely fine, but I draw the line there. I'm not really sure when it became socially acceptable to wear a glorified baby grow public but it definitely happened...and is still happening. One of my all-time hates is PODs. Public Onesie Displays. This is an exact example when celebrities do not know best. I would say onesies are the middle-ground between pyjamas and loungewear; slightly more acceptable than simply rolling out of bed but perfect for lounging around the house when the days start to get a bit chillier. I am a proud onesie lover but would never wear them outside, not even just to the shop on my road.

Flowers and Bows

I had a lovely time in London and to top it off, we had a meal on Sunday for my gran's birthday which was delicious. You really can't beat a sunday roast, especially now the weather has decided to turn chilly. And of course it needed to be followed by a lemon tart. yum yum yum. I decided to wear my lovely jacket (which just has my name written all over it) with a cami and black skirt. This jacket is perfect with so many outfits. I've also worn it with a black dress for evening-wear and I spotted someone wearing one in London with jeans and a white vest and it even looked amazing like that! I also put my hair up with a bow (and suffered all day being bullied by my sister because of it) and popped on some pink lippy of course. I love this belt as well. I picked it up for just £1 from Primark (what a surprise!) the other day and it just works perfectly to add that little something extra to an outfit. That little thing that you often can't put your finger on, well this is it!

LONDON

Sunday, 29 September 2013

I spent friday night and saturday in london and had the best time! It's my friend's birthday monday so he took us to G-A-Y Late in Soho which was incredibly fun and resulted in A LOT of singing and most definitely some ridiculous dancing but that's why I haven't posted in a few days. I had every intention of blogging on the train but was just far too excited/tired/just generally forgot.  However, I've finally recovered and am back to blogging!

Playsuited

We all scream for ice cream

So I was flicking through magazines while having a head of highlights put through my hair when I came to an abrupt stop. See I had spotted a pair of white heels with ice cream heels. Yes, that's right, ice cream heels. When I read the article and found that the brains behind this crazy amazing idea was Karl Lagerfeld, I loved them even more!

Call Me

Wednesday, 25 September 2013

What with iOS 7 coming out this week, I thought it would be the perfect time to post about my phone. I  really don't know how we lived without smart phones, if someone took mine away for a day I literally don't know what I'd do! I've gone through many phones in the past, all different brands as well and I'm happy that I've finally settled with the Apple brand. Good, solid, and very popular choice. There is one thing that has stayed the same through my many phones and that's customisation. I love to make my phones my own and have been using different cases since my Nokia 3410 days (the big chunky phones which EVERYONE had) Back then I think it was Betty Boop who graced the back (and front actually) of my little baby, but now I tend to go for something a little more subtle. I love my iPhone because it's so easy to get cases for it, a simple search on eBay will show millions of results at super-cheap prices.

Maybelline's Baby Lips

Tuesday, 24 September 2013

So I recently caved and bought one of Maybelline's Baby Lips. I've read so many reviews saying that they're not great but I think it was the fact they would just look so cute in my makeup bag more than anything that resulted in me hastily ripping pink punch from it's packaging. I'm sure you're all aware of the hype these adorable lipbalms have caused amongst bloggers and beauty-lovers alike and this seems to be mainly due to the packaging. I don't know about you but I am an absolute sucker for pretty packaging (it's bad I know) but so seem to be the majority of beauty buyers. Just look at the likes of Benefit and Soap and Glory. It's quite reasonable to say the majority of people buying these brands would not have done if they didn't look so cute and girly (regardless of the product inside). Anyway, I've kind of gone into a ramble. What I'm trying to say is that had Baby Lips not looked so adorable on the shelf, I don't think they would've been as popular as they are from the outset.

This week's newbies

Friday, 20 September 2013

Okay so I have 0 money but I just can't stop buying things! Normally when I have no money I stay away from the shops, I become house-bound but because I had to pop into town a couple of times this week, it's ended in disaster! Clothes everywhere! I say this like I'm complaining but I love it really (even if my bank balance doesn't) So I just thought I'd do a little post on my recent purchases as the season starts to change. I'll warn you now, I got a little snap-happy!

DIY: Jewellery Frame

Wednesday, 18 September 2013

I had nothing to do today so I decided to get a bit creative. My jewellery collection has been getting bigger and bigger and I couldn't even use any of it because it was sitting in a box getting more and more tanged everytime I tried to take something out! It's so pointless having all this pretty jewellery and not being able to wear it. Before long i was googling ways to display jewellery and came across a few framed necklace holders. I already had a corkboard from uni and luckily brought it back with me so that provided the frame and the backboard. Now I could've left it like this but of course I had to prettify it a bit with some fabric on the back. Then it was just a case of pinning on my jewellery. This was after i spent 2 hours untangling it! Actually the majority I ended up chucking out because it had turned rusty or broken in the muddle. Now I can show off my necklaces and bracelets, whilst also being able to get to them without spending 20 mins untangling. Perfect.

Let it rain...

Love It? Tartan

Monday, 16 September 2013

I'm so excited for this winter's tartan trend, it hasn't really had an opportunity to shine in the last few years and I'm looking forward to it breaking up the fur coats, chunky knits and leather jackets that are on annual-repeat. I've already got a blue-green vintage skirt which has been sitting in my wardrobe for years, waiting for it's calling as well as a couple of tartan scarves, although I'm still feeling a little unprepared for the upcoming trend. Ultimately it's the kilt-skirt I'm after, and I will find one....I WLL! I've put together my favourite pieces from the high-street. I expected to find more online than I did, but maybe it's just me being picky!

Maxfactor colour elixir giant pen stick

Sunday, 15 September 2013

I'm one of those people who pop into a makeup store and emerge an hour later with a collection of lipstick stripes covering my hands and wrists. It always takes me ages to decide on a colour and then once I have decided, they always look different when you actually wear them! Anyway, I love trying out new lipstick colours and textures and am always buying different brands to compare. This time it was Maxfactor's Colour Elixir Giant Pen Stick (Details here)
I originally bought my first pen stick a few months ago and was really impressed with the results. I was looking for a bright pink colour and stumbled across the Vibrant Pink (15) shade in my local Boots store. Maxfactor's website claims that the product will 'Line and fill lips in-one' which is a bonus as you don't need to buy a matching liner. The tip does have to be fairly sharp to get a crisp line, however, which is a little tricky when sharpening. The pens are longer than I have pictured because I have sharpened them a few times.

First Post!

Wednesday, 11 September 2013

Finally! I've been slaving away on here all day trying to make something I would actually enjoy writing into. Still got a lot of work to do, but I'm pretty chuffed how it's coming along. I've been wanting a proper blog for ages but a-I never really had the time and b-I could never really be bothered. Now I've finished uni though, I've got plenty of time on my hands (far too much actually) so I'm hoping this will be a good way to pass the time. Fingers crossed I actually keep it going...
