BARRYM MATTE NAIL PAINT

Wednesday, 2 October 2013

I am such a sucker for nail colours and am dazzled everytime I walk through boots by the glitters, shimmers and sparkles of nail polish bottles. I've grown quite a collection through the years although the more I have, I feel the more I need. By far my favourite brand for nail varnish has to be Barry M for so many reasons: they have the best colour ranges, they do the best effects, the colours actually look the same on the nail and at just £2.99-£3.99 a pop, they're super-cheap.
Before recently, I had been happy sitting in the comfort zone of simple patent polish. (apart from the 90's glitter polish craze of course!) However, Barry M has a way of tempting me into a world of matte, crackle, shimmer and confetti.
Now I can't wait to try out new ranges and effects and Barry M is the perfect way to do it. They translate current makeup trends into affordable and wearable looks, especially nail trends! Ive most recently tried the new matte varnish.
I've been looking for a matte nail varnish for about a year now (ok so I haven't really been looking that hard) and haven't found one on the high street without spending more than I want to. To be honest, I thought Barry M would've jumped on the bandwagon much earlier but they got there eventually. Finally a matte collection has been released...but was it worth the wait?
Initially, I was disappointed by the colours available. The only two which really appealed to myself were Black and Vanilla (the one I purchased). I would've loved a pink or maybe a green instead of the slightly dull colours they've chosen. Despite this, the Vanilla shade I've chosen is actually quite nice. It does look very matte on the nail which is great and also dries super quick (ideal if you're as impatient as I am!). The chip-ness is pretty much the same as any Barry M nail varnish I've tried- lasts about 2 days generally. Also another thing to note is that the nail surface must be smooth as the matte finish clings to any imperfections and highlights them, ruining the look. Overall, I will definitely be buying another matte colour, especially if they release new shades. Get on it Barry M!

  1. Today is the first time I've heard about matte nail polishes. I'm in two minds about them. I love a good glossy colour but it's tempting to try a matte shade. I would just worry about how easily it would get marked. I get pen on my glossy nails all the time haha. With a matte shade, I'm guessing it will transfer even easier.
