MUA EVER-AFTER MATTE PALETTE

Tuesday, 1 October 2013

My latest review is on the Ever After Matte palette by mua. Bought from Superdrug for £4.

I have used mua cosmetics a few times in the past and haven't been overly impressed. By all means they are good value for the prices, but I haven't been blown away. However, I've recently become bored of my makeup routine and wanted to spice it up a little. Instead of splashing out on a trend that I would probably use for all of 5 minutes, I decided to go back to basics and update my eyeshadow collection. Now I'm not a regular user of eyeshadows and only normally use a white and black to create  a smokey eye on a night out but I'm super-bored of this so want to try something new for a daytime look. My first stop was mua, purely for the low prices and I quickly stumbled upon this palette.
You get 10 different shades in the palette in a mixture of warm and cool tones and a sponge applicator brush. I really need to invest in some good-quality eyeshadow brushes and have been hunting on ebay to find a reasonably-priced set as I would like a few different sizes. (if anyone has any recommendations let me know!) Now I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert on this topic, in fact it's the complete opposite, but the colours seem to be absoloutley perfect for me. They are easily blendable and the shades mix together wonderfully. With this one pallette I could just as easily create a nighttime smokey eye as a daytime dreamy look which is great value!
The colours are fairly pigmented although there are a great deal of light colours which look very similar  to me when on the eyelid. The slightly darker colours are perfect for giving a twist to these light colours and look great in the corner and the crease. My favourite daytime combination has to be: Unwrapped on the brow bone and inner corner of the eye. Bare on the eyelid and Chino/Truffle on the outside and crease. I maybe would prefer a little more variation in the first four shades but overall I'm very impressed with the quality, colours and price of this palette and can't wait to try out some evening looks with it!

Does anyone have any other mua palettes? What do you think of them? I'm very tempted to get the smokey eye palette but going to see how I get on with this one first. p.s. sorry about my scarred/hairy arm! haha not sure why I decided to swatch on that side of my arm

  2. when looking for good, not-overprized brushes try zoeva.com. they have a great choic in all kind of brushes for a very fair price. also they ship to the uk. and if you can't find any differences in the lighter shades of your palette-try a eyelid-base coat. it will bring out the colours and will help to last your eyshadow much longer.
