MUA Pro-Brow Kit

Monday, 28 October 2013

I'm not gonna lie, I've been after this palette for months. I've searched superdrug high and low every time I've found myself in town and finally got lucky last week when I spotted two little boxes in the usual empty space. Noticing one was already open (always a little risky with makeup) I grabbed the sealed box and ran to the till. At just £3.50, I've heard great things about this little kit and, as I've recently been borrowing my sister's HD brows kit, I've been dying to compare the two.

The packaging is simple but has all the information you need on the outside. I love that the lid opens up to reveal a mirror which is a very decent size (the full size of the palette) and can already tell that this is going to be regularly used. Inside the palette lies a solid wax and 3 shades of powder; a mid-brown, blonde and a light blonde (recommended for highlighting the brow bone). I would definitely not suggest this kit for the really dark-haired as the colour options are more tailored to lighter hair. I initially thought I may be able to get away with the blonde colour as I often use a blonde pencil, but this shows up lighter than expected. Ideally, I would like a colour slightly in-between the blonde and brown, but they can be blended together to create the colour you desire. It also contains a brush and tweezers. I attempted to use the brush but found it far too stiff to apply the powder so will probably just be using it for the wax.
Here, I've used just the brown colour to fill in my brows and I can honestly say I'm impressed. (By the way, I am trying to grow my eyebrows out delevingne-style but it's a much slower process than I anticipated! They won't grow towards each other!!) Apart from the colour selection, the consistency seems pretty much identical to the HD brows palette (and is over £16 cheaper!) I've found using an angled eyeliner brush to be the perfect application tool and the wax in the kit sets the brows without making them stiff or sticky (eugh!). This kit has absolutely lived up to my expectations and I'm glad I didn't fork out £20 for the HD Brows version. Bargain of the month!
The kit is available from Superdrug if you can find it, so keep your eyes peeled and if you see one, GRAB IT!

  2. Hey Abi! I saw this about 2 days ago, but didn't grab it, as I'm using their matte pallet at the moment. Thought I was being greedy! However, this looks awesome. Hope you well my love. jaychapmanmakeup xxx
