Illamasqua Intense Boost Lipgloss

Tuesday, 1 April 2014

Now, I have to admit that, although i love a makeup splurge, I'm pretty reluctant to buy any high-end products purely because of their price tags. Luxury products don't come cheap and that means if I'm not 100% head over heels in love with something, I'd see it as money down the drain. For this reason, my makeup collection is pretty much all high-street/drugstore. Apart form this little number. I came across this in the asos sale just after christmas and bought it pretty much because of the price. I'd been dying to try an illamasqua product and for a bargain price of £11, I actually picked up a lipstick (which I'm not so keen on) and this gloss.

When I first unwrapped the parcel from asos and saw this, I was pretty scared. It's looks such a gorgeous colour in the tube, but not really a lip colour. It's a purple base (already scary enough!) with a blue almost-irredescent shimmer. When applied, it's actually far less terrifying! It's much more subtle with more of a pinky-purple colour and a blue sheen when the sun catches it. So pretty!

The only downside I can think of is the stickiness. It's just so sticky! I'm really not used to this as I'm not normally a gloss wearer but it brought back memories of cheap lipglosses I used to buy with my pocket money. Not a nice feeling. I also dread to think how I'd end up looking on a windy day with hair stuck all over my mouth (i can just picture it now!)

After this risky buy, I'll definitely be keeping my matte shades as favourites, although this is definitely putting up a fight! The stickiness is a serious peeve of mine although I've found that with this product, I've ended up excusing it. The finish is just so nice, it can't not be in my top 10.

  1. I must admit that I would usually not even consider a shade like this, but it looks so amazing on you, that I'd really like to try it too :o) Xx

  2. Shame that it's so sticky, there's nothing worse than something SO sticky it's gross! But the shade is so flattering on you- i'd never buy anything like that, i'd be too scared! Xx

  3. You look amazing in blue toned pinks and purples! Unfortunately I'd just look a bit ill.
