The Library of Fragrance • Pina Colada

Tuesday, 28 October 2014

Picture it, you meet up with the girls, one of them wearing the most striking perfume yo've smelt in a while. You ask the age old question 'what are you wearing', to which she replies 'grass', ' sunshine' or 'dirt'. Huh? Dirt? It's not that she just hasn't washed for a while (and has been rolling around outside?!) but it's actually one of the curveballs The Library Of Fragrance have thrown into the fragrance territory.

In an aim to revolutionise how we wear different perfume, the company have launched a collection of scents replicating everyday smells we take for granted or, just don't really notice. The idea behind this is genius and, although it sounds like it doesn't work, it so does.

I've been involved in the research for The Library Of Fragrance and, as a thank you, was sent a fragrance of my choice from their website. The decision was so almost impossible. I'm an indecisive person at best so when faced with 101 scents to choose from, its safe to say it took a while. Do I take a risk and go for one of the more unusual scents, or play it safe with a floral number (standard abi). I went for the mid-groud option eventually, picking something I love, but I must admit, never actually smelt.

Lets be honest, the first thing in my mind when handed a cocktail is to smell it. I'm more concerned about getting the beauty down my neck. Of course, when choosing pina colada, I expected a coconutty smell with a hint of pineapple, but never did I expect the rum to come through as well. It's just a delicious scent, so strongly smelling of pina colada you can almost taste it, but also being so wearable. It's not at all sickly and will be so refreshing in the summer months (come back!)

I think I made a good call with my choice on this occasion, although it's just made me want to try all the others! There are 28 scents available in boots and I've made more than a couple of trips to the stand to carry out my own 'research' to figure out which ones are on my wishlist next (I would definitely recommend doing the same!) But there are also 101 available online so if you're willing to take a risk, just go for it!

  2. I saw these in Boots the other day, there were some very odd ones (erm...cannabis ta!) but I like the idea of lavender to spray onto my pillow. I find it very relaxing.

  3. Sounds great! I have the fireplace scent from them and it's amazing x
